Founded in 1865, the Raritan Yacht Club has a storied history and a bright future.  Raritan Bay is our playground and quality time on the water is our purpose.  Whether you're a seasoned sailor, active racer or interested in learning to sail, RYC has something for you and the entire family. RYC administers 215 Race_to_Great_Beds1moorings for member boats and with a limited number of guest moorings to accommodate yachts from reciprocating clubs. We host many diverse activities on and off the water  providing the opportunity to gather and enjoy the the camaraderie of like minded folks.

Headline events include two major regattas, weekend and Wednesday Night racing, numerous dinners with topical speakers, Friday night dances, overnight raft ups and a myriad of diverse social activities virtually every weekend throughout the year.  The Bar and Galley are open for lunch and dinner for members and guests Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11 months of the year.

Boat ownership is not a requirement at Raritan Yacht Club.  This year RYC is offering a shared-boat program that provides members who don't want the commitment or expense of owning their own boat the opportunity to enjoy sailing with family and friends on a regular basis.   The program uses club-owned Colgate 26 keelboats that are available for members to subscribe to on a fractional basis.   The program,  which is limited to 10 subscribers per boat,  provides a cost-effective way to sail during the season,  with the ability to book guaranteed time slots in advance as well as the opportunity to use the boat on short-notice if it is available.  The Colgates are equipped with a full set of sails, including a spinnaker, and are equipped with outboard engines and an enclosed head.  All maintenance, storage and mooring costs are covered by the annual subscription fee.

The club house facilities feature the Grill Room with its large bar and dining area and breathtaking view of Raritan Bay. The Surf Room, a truly unique part of our facility was originally the main parlor of the historic Cooper Mansion. Serving as the RYC clubhouse since the original was destroyed by fire in 1915, the CooperCooper Mansion sitting area Manision is a wonderful example of gracious living from a bygone era.  With a well apportioned sitting area, its own bar and small, intimate dining area, the Surf Room provides a quiet 'club within the club'.  The upper floors of the Cooper mansion house the offices & meeting rooms for the Board of Governors, Ladies Auxiliary and Junior Yacht Club.  While the Grill and Surf room are wonder places, many prefer  weather permitting, to dine or relax over a cocktail on our two large decks overlooking the water.
The club facilities are available to members 24 hours a day all year!

With  approximately 300 regular members and 100 senior and distant members,  all members have the same status within the club. The club is an organization run by members for members.  All officers, board members and committee people are volunteers. Members working together have built most of the facilities, do much of the maintenance, manage operations, and run the Racing, Cruising & Junior Sailing/Learn to Sail programs.
