NOTICE OF COMPETITION
RULES: This event will be governed by the RYC Pitmaster Competition Instructions and further instructions as announced by the event organizers prior to the event.

ELIGIBILITY: The competition is open to all RYC members.

LOCATION: Competition will be held at the Raritan Yacht Club, 160 Water Street, Perth Amboy, NJ

ENTRY: Competitors may enter the competition by e-mailing the Principle Competition Officer (PCO) Vice Commodore Dawn Daddino at [email protected] by Friday, September 20th. Please call if you have any questions  201-951-8749.

DATE: Saturday, October 5, 2019.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:


 

Friday, October 4th

  • 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
    • Competitor Check-in
    • Competition ribs and storage box to be provided.
    • Rib preparation on RYC premises. (Ribs must not leave the RYC property.)
    • Competitor cooking station setup (optional)
    • RYC Bar & Galley Open for Regular Menu - Spectators Welcome
 

Saturday, October 5th

  • 7:00 AM
    • Competitor Check-in
    • Box pick-up
    • Cooking Station Set Up
    • Competitors my light their fires
 
  • 9:00 AM
    • Competitor's Meeting - turn in box hand out
 
  • 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
    • Cooking Continues
    • Games and other activities in the yard (Schedule to follow)
 
  •  3:00 Judges assemble and brief meeting
 
  •  3:15 to 3:45 PM
    • Rib turn in for judging
    • No turn-in boxes accepted before or after this time
 
  • 4:00 to 4:30 PM
    • Rib turn in for buffet and fan favorite judging
 
  • 5:00 to 7:00 PM
    • Buffet open for member dinner and fan favorite judging begins
    • Music on the deck
 
  • 7:30 PM
    • Winners Announced
           


COMPETITION INSTRUCTIONS: Competition instructions will be available by Wednesday, September 25th.

SCORING: Ribs will be blind-scored by a panel of judges as described in the Competition Instructions. There will be no throw-outs.

AWARDS:
RYC Pitmaster will be awarded to the top scoring competitor based upon the official judging results
RYC Fan Favorite will be awarded to the top scoring competitor as identified by the membership
           
EQUIPMENT: A competitor must bring their own equipment to cook with.
