2018 RYC Cold Turkey Regatta
Raritan Yacht Club (RYC) was proud to host its first RC Laser event - the Cold Turkey Regatta on Saturday, November 24th. This regatta came together at the last minute as another local regatta was unfortunately canceled. The event drew in 13 participants from across New Jersey.
The day began with a crisp 29 degrees, overcast skies, and wind out of the north between 3-5 knots. As the day progressed, we warmed up to a cool 42 degrees with the northerly wind filling in between 10-15 knots. With the increasing wind throughout the day, skippers started out with their A sails but eventually some Bs and Cs came out. Everyone had “fun” fighting continuous ebbing tide of Raritan Bay to complete 10 races, 5 in the morning and 5 in the afternoon. The RYC Galley prepared a special menu for the event with plenty of food to warn the racers up.
Coming in first was Ray Szulczewski (pictured above, left), second was Frank Scalisi (pictured above, right) and third Greg Ryan.

Many thanks to RYC Vice Commodore, Dawn Daddino, our Race Director, Steve Fronapfel our Assistant RD, and Frank Scalisi for setting the windward/leeward course.
