Red Grant Regatta 2017

Commodore Gaydos and the Red Grant Committee are excited to announce the details of the 71st Annual Red Grant Regatta. Always admired as one of the premier auxiliary sailboat regattas in the NY/NJ area, this year's event promises to be one of the finest as we welcome two 12 Meter America’s Cup Yachts courtesy of NY Harbor Sailing Foundation and the Manhattan Yacht Club. Both US-42 and US-46 (Both originally named America II) will be joining RYC as we celebrate and support youth sailing!

As this year’s regatta will benefit Joshua’s Charter, a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to bring the uplifting “opportunity to experience waves of adventure and sensational fun through sailing on the open water.” Joshua's Charter is committed to families with children with cancer and RYC is honored to support their mission.

In addition, RYC is proud to offer children from Joshua’s charter, members of our own youth sailing program, as well as sailing teams from local high schools the opportunity to explore and sail on US-42 and US-46. This opportunity will help to inspire and encourage the scions of our nobel sport through enhanced educational opportunities, competitions and motivating experiences.

The Regatta Committee will be auctioning off crew slots on the 12 meter yachts. With a total of 24 spots available, half of which are reserved for the children from Joshua’s Charter and our youth sailors, the balance will be auctioned off with a minimum bid of $150.

In addition to hosting these stunning and historic 12 meter vessels, RYC is excited to announce the running of the First Annual RYC Colgate Cup. The inauguration of this one day series of races promises to be fantastic new One Design event. With boats expected from North Cove Marina to join our burgeoning fleet, this new individual and perpetual trophy is sure to become an annually coveted and competitive prize.

The ever popular Mayor’s Cup race for cruising sailboats will held on Saturday. Mayor Diaz, the Honorary Chairperson of the Regatta will be on hand to present the trophy at Sunday’s ceremony.

The Red Grant Regatta regatta was founded in honor of Adolph "Red" Grant, a local racer and veteran who lost his life in World War II at an early age and consists of two days of PHRF and One Design racing. and The Mayor’s and Colgate Cups will be held on Saturday only. The.

This prestigious event is a major part of Raritan Yacht Club's 150 year history and it’s getting better every year. The Regatta is thrilled to welcome back Gosling’s Rum as their sponsor. Gosling’s has designated The Red Grant Regatta as one of 85 regattas Nationwide that will receive the “America’s Cup” hosting swag package for competitors. Coral Reef Sailing will set up shop in the yard for sailing gear purchases.
