| Bill of Rights Commemorative Arch Spring Lighthouse Race
Chief Race Officer: Eli Blumenthal On November 20, 1789, the New Jersey Assembly met in Perth Amboy, the first capital of New Jersey. At that meeting, New Jersey became the first state to vote to ratify the first ten amendments of the United States Constitution known as the Bill of Rights. The ratification occurred in what was then a courthouse and is now a portion of the historic Perth Amboy City Hall located on the High Street Circle. On November 20, 1989, Perth Amboy memorialized that great event in American History with the dedication of the Bill of Rights Commemorative Arch. Raritan Yacht Club is the keeper of the perpetual trophy, which is the exact replica of the "Arch." The entrants are encouraged to fly an ensign or American flag to show off our colors of freedom extolled in the Bill of Rights.
