The RYC 2013 Junior Summer Sailing Classes We will be up and running with New Opti's, New C420's and our faithful JY-15's! Classes offer instruction to students who are just starting their sailing experience (we have worked with students who have never been in a boat before) and to students who are practicing
When: Two days per week on MONDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS or TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS. FRIDAY is our race day and will be open to all students who want to race and who have the ability to sail around the course. We recommend the Monday/Wednesday class to students who intend to race on Fridays. We will participate in four regattas this season. The classes will start Where: We meet on the deck of the Raritan Yacht Club Perth Amboy, NJ and sail on Raritan Bay. Call for directions or download from the club website: www.ryc.org. What is Required?
Instructors: The staff is headed by Gary A. Myer who is a certified teacher in NJ and has 44 years of sailing experiences in a wide variety of boats. This will be his 22th year of instruction at RYC. Head Instructor Kim Myer (also certified teacher in NJ and former member of the URI Sailing Team) will return with an excellent staff who will assist with the best instruction and guidance possible. and improving their sailing skills to their maximum potential. It is the goal of the class that all participating students learn to confidently handle one of our small boats and also learn: about safety, the terminologies, care of the equipment, and properly handle themselves in a variety of situations both on shore and on the water. We do have plenty of fun, too. Bring along a friend and enjoy the sailing. The class is open to students ages 8 - 18.
