If sailing is your passion, whether it’s racing, cruising or improving your skills, Raritan Yacht Club has it all.
As you cruise around this web site, we are hopeful that our ever expanding photo library will give you a sense of the "on the water" experience at Raritan Yacht Club.
For racers, we have one of the most active fleets in the Northeast. The racing schedule offers both competitive and intense courses, as well as those of a fun and more interesting style. Our season runs from May through October, with something for everyone: from family and novice racers, to dingy and one-design racers, as well as serious PHRF and offshore racers; we have a very busy race schedule. Our Wednesday Night series regularly has over 30 boats on the water from bow-sprit sport boats to non-spinnaker cruisers that race in 4 different classes and is considered the premier racing event on the Bay.
Our club supports local charities in our two major annual regattas, The Red Grant Regatta and The Fall Series, which are renowned as being among the most competitive regattas in the area. All profits from these events this past season went to the Coast Guard Foundation as well as the Perth Amboy Local Food Bank. Raritan Yacht Club prides itself in assisting in community affairs and local involvement. Our commitment to a healthy and environmentally safe Raritan Bay and it's impact on all is our goal.
There is also at RYC, an extensive program for Juniors including active participation in racing, a Summer Sailing program and a great social life around the Club. Our Juniors have their own Flag Officers and are decided in their choices, not only of activities, but of local charities to assist.
Raritan Yacht Club is also ideal for cruisers; the perfect spot for day sailing as well as overnight cruising on Raritan Bay. For the more adventurous, go 14 miles East and turn to port for New York Harbor and LI Sound, or continue straight ahead for the Atlantic Ocean. A fun-packed series of activities is organized by our Cruising Committee year-round. From May through October, sailing events and cruises are planned that can be enjoyed as close-by as luncheon in Keyport or as far afield as our annual rendezvous at Shelter Island.
Last but not least, we offer a wide range of opportunities to learn new skills. Seminars this past year included "Diesel Maintenance" and "Weather Routing" as well as an "on the water...in your boat" North Sails Racing Clinic. Several programs and events are designed to introduce sailors to racing. These include "Introduction to Racing" where an experienced racer will advise of racing technique as well as come aboard and assist first hand, as well as "Racing Basics 101" where the details of a race are simply explained in layman's terms. For those more advanced looking for adventure, Raritan Yacht Club offers single day "Safety At Sea" seminars as well as a "Captain’s License" program that runs over multiple weekends.
If sailing is your passion, consider Raritan Yacht Club as your destination.
